Nice to meet you!
Hi, I’m Lori — the founder of Bright Day Studio!
I opened Bright Day Studio because when my kids were growing up, I longed for a place where we could make art side by side — a welcoming, relaxed place where we could meet other people, explore art-making, and have fun together. Somewhere that wasn’t about making perfect projects or following strict instructions, but about the joy of creating, connecting, and just seeing what happens. Since I couldn’t find that space, I decided to start it myself.
My path to this studio has been anything but straight — I’ve taught dance to kids, adults & the special needs community, worked as a children’s librarian (yes, I still love story time), and partnered with my husband for a decade to build his medical practice (overseeing the transition to an electronic medical records system). And way back when, I spent eight years in corporate America at TV Guide Magazine.
My love for art began at a young age. I spent countless hours coloring intricate posters, painting, crafting, needlepointing, embroidering, sewing, and latch-hooking (remember that fun craft?). I also dabbled in basic woodworking and learned photography, even developing black and white photos in our home basement. As an adult, I've taken classes in drawing, watercolor, pottery, paper-cutting, visual journaling, Zentangling, and hand-lettering. You name it, I’ve probably dabbled in it. And sharing that creative curiosity with my own kids — from the moment they could hold a crayon — has been one of the true joys of my life.
Now, I get to share it with you, too. Whether you’re 3 or 83, whether you think you’re “artistic” or not — there’s a seat for you at the studio, and I can’t wait to make something wonderful together.
Lori
PS - Fun fact - some days my hair is curly and some days it’s straight!
Hi there, I’m Cas — “second-in-command” here at Bright Day Studio!
Art has always been woven into my life in one way or another. I studied interior design in college, but long before that, I was the kid who could spend hours painting, drawing & making things out of whatever materials I could find. Creativity has always been my way of exploring the world, and over time I discovered that I love not just making art myself, but sharing it with others — especially kids. There’s something truly magical about watching a young artist try something new, surprise themselves with what they’ve created & light up with pride. Being part of those moments is one of the very best parts of working here.
Whether I’m helping guide a project, setting up for a class, or creating alongside others — I’m happiest in a space where creativity, curiosity & connection are at the heart of it all.
