Nice to meet you!

Hello! I’m Lori. I created Bright Day Studio to foster joy, connection and personal expression through art, play and dance. This studio is what I was looking for when my two children were growing up - a safe and relaxed place we could go to meet other people, feel welcomed, explore art-making and have some fun together!

I have enjoyed teaching people to express themselves for many years. I taught dance to children, young adults with disabilities and adults for 10 years and worked as a children’s librarian for three years (so don’t be surprised when we read a story or two). I partnered with my husband for ten years to build his medical practice, implementing the daily systems and helping set the tone for a caring and responsive patient experience for all ages.

And of course, I have loved art since I can remember! I colored giant, intricate posters when I was young, and my Mom introduced me to painting, crafting, needlepoint, embroidery, sewing and latch-hooking (remember that?). My Dad taught me woodworking and photography, and had me developing black & white photos in our basement. As an adult, I have continuously taken classes, learning about drawing, watercolor, pottery, paper-cutting, visual journaling, Zentangling and hand-lettering. It was an absolute delight to introduce art to my children from the moment they could grasp a crayon and to watch their skills grow through the years.

Now, I look forward to sharing my experience and love of art-making with you. See you soon!

PS - Fun fact - some days my hair is curly, some days it’s straight!
