Bursting with Imagination

Creative art experiences for ages 5–10

Something wonderful happens as children reach this age—their ideas get BIG!

They invent characters and creatures, imagine entire worlds, tell elaborate stories, dream up things that don’t exist yet, find niche interests and start bringing more and more of their own ideas into what they create.

At the same time, they’ve developed the skills to express their ideas more fully through art. They can plan, build, draw, cut, sculpt, paint and problem-solve with increasing independence—and art gives them a place to put all of those abilities to work.

At Bright Day, we introduce children to a wide variety of art materials, tools and techniques, but we don't tell them exactly what their finished artwork should look like. We might introduce an artist, demonstrate a new technique, provide an interesting challenge or begin with a shared idea—and then give them room to take it somewhere entirely their own.

Sometimes that means changing the plan halfway through. Sometimes it means trying something that doesn't work and figuring out another way. And sometimes it means creating something we never could have dreamed up.

That’s exactly what we hope will happen!

Art Club

Tuesdays and/or Thursdays 4:30-5:45pm

Ages 5-10

More than just an art class, Afterschool Art Club is a place where creativity and friendships grow together.

Each week is a new creative adventure - painting one week, printmaking the next, clay, collage, drawing, sculpture, fiber art, mixed media—and sometimes materials you might never expect to find in an art class!

As kids come back week after week, something wonderful happens. They become more confident using different tools and materials, more willing to try new things, and more independent in bringing their own ideas to life. ‘

We get to know them, too—what excites them, what they’re curious about, and who they are becoming. Over time, a wonderful little community grows within the studio, where kids and teachers alike are excited to see each other every week and create together.
